Writing Prompt: Z is for ZODIAC SIGN

The Is of Writing: Inspirational Writing Prompt

Review Zodiac signs. Choose a birth date. Create a horoscope for a character. Write one for today, tomorrow, and yesterday. Where does your character read his/her horoscope? Or write about a horoscope your character read in the past that he/she is remembering. Why is it important years later?

About Denise Reashore

Denise M. Reashore spends most of her free time reading, writing, and gardening - - or staring out the window at the brightness of a new day and dreaming of digging in the earth. Throughout the winter, precious free time goes into mapping and planning her future garden and, hopefully, writing and reading retreat. The rest of the time, from September to June, she spends working as an elementary school teacher. She lives on almost 3 acres, in an old Victorian style home, with her husband, two lovely daughters, and a cat.

I absolutely love doing this. I don’t very often do it as a prompt, but it helps me shape my characters once I create them. Those extra little rails of “What is an Aquarius like?” just give me a tiny bit of extra inspiration.

    Congratulations on finishing your A-Z!

Denise – I had trouble with leaving messages at several blogs yesterday. No clue what was going on….

I’m sure I stopped by here, but anyhow…great prompt! I used to use Sun Signs, just glancing at it from time to time for characterization. It’s been a while, and your post makes me want to get it off the shelf again.

Congrats for making it through A to Z, and thanks for all the great prompts during the month.

  3. What a fun idea. I have used the Ennigram Personality test to help create characters in a second novel I’m working on. I will look forward to playing with your Zodiac tip. Finding you and others in the #challenge has been an important part of the experience.
