Book lovers and writers have something in common. A love of the written word – and books! Every writer needs and has books. Shelves lined with books they like to read, copies of text in the area of interest in which they write or samples of magazines and stories they would like to branch out in. Libraries on Kobo or iPad. What sorts of resources do you use? What books grace your work space? Leave a comment and share with us.

About Denise Reashore

Denise M. Reashore spends most of her free time reading, writing, and gardening - - or staring out the window at the brightness of a new day and dreaming of digging in the earth. Throughout the winter, precious free time goes into mapping and planning her future garden and, hopefully, writing and reading retreat. The rest of the time, from September to June, she spends working as an elementary school teacher. She lives on almost 3 acres, in an old Victorian style home, with her husband, two lovely daughters, and a cat.

  1. I have a book problem. Some people collect shoes; I collect books. There is a small bookcase in my writing room just for my 45 writing books and 11 thesauri. I need to stop.

One of my favorite reference books is First Name Reverse Dictionary, by Yvonne Navarro. I have copies of both the first and second editions. Very useful for naming characters, especially if you have a concept for that character in mind, and want a name to match.

  3. You’re right! I just added another bookcase in the spare bedroom. (I will blame my hubby a bit too) But, the one in the spare bedroom is all mine. I thought I wouldn’t have that problem when I got my Kindle for my birthday last year..but..um..not so much =)

    Happy A-Zing!

  4. Books are brilliant. The best way to ‘b’ a better writer is to read and saturate yourself with words. Thanks for writing!

  6. I like to keep one book going on kindle, one in car (audio), and one in print. Right now I’m listening “The Paris Wife”, finished an unmentionable on Kindle (really fast read when skip the parts too hot for me), and am not doing a print selection beyond the children’s school assignments “Green Eggs and Ham” and “Put Me in the Zoo”–classics šŸ™‚
