A winter blizzard kept me inside, and ruined big plans to take Genevieve to the local library for our first Family Literacy Day. So this momma decided to make the most of it. I gathered a pile of books and headed to the living room. Throughout the day we read and played, taking breaks, eating, napping, and snacking before returning to the books.

Genevieve enjoyed popular books by Sandra Boynton and Eric Carle, but I have come to truly enjoy reading her Alice Schertle’s book Little Blue Truck.

We read 10 books in all, some of them more than once: Little Blue Truck (Alice Schertle); All Around Us (Eric Carle); Snuggle Puppy (Sandra Boynton); Moo, Baa, La La La! (Sandra Boynton); Head to Toe (Frida Bing); Read Me a Book (Barbara Reid); Frosty the Snowman (Steve Nelson & Jack Rollins); Baby Animals; Colors; and Winnie-the-Pooh ABC.
